The Parkesburg Historic Commission was established in 2019 by dedicated volunteers who cherished our town’s history and sought to preserve it. The Commission’s duties include recording the history of the Borough, maintaining an archive of memorabilia, and cataloging historic sites and structures. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at the Borough Administration building.
In 2024, those same members founded the Parkesburg Historical Society, a nonprofit organization created to further expand those efforts. Together, the Commission and Society are proud to help our community stay connected to its roots. Every day, we are reminded of how deeply our present is shaped by the past.
Did you know Parkesburg officially became a Borough in 1872? Our town was built by generations of hardworking people – farmers, tradespeople, civic leaders, and families – who laid the foundation of our community, brick by brick. Their legacy lives on not just in photographs or records, but in the spirit of neighborliness that continues to define Parkesburg today.
We invite you to rediscover that legacy with us. Whether by attending one of our community events or exploring the historical collection at Borough Hall, there’s always something new to learn about the past. And if your family has stories, photographs, or keepsakes that reflect Parkesburg’s history, we would love to hear from you. Preserving our heritage is a shared effort – and every voice matters.
Together, let’s celebrate where we’ve been and shape where we’re going.
